Elder Jonas Gridley's mission

  Wow oh wow We had 2 exchanges this week and dang they were pretty great! The first one was with Elder Lafleur he came out 6 weeks after me. We had a good time together not too much happened Elder Lafleur on the exchange it was fun to go around with him though we used their car which was great.  The next exchange was with Elder Davenport and that was really nice to do. I got to hear his story of why he came out he's had a more difficult time but knows this is where he is supposed to be. Elder Viehweg and Wade wanted to go to their area but I felt we were supposed to stay. Well, we saw why we had a great day meeting lots of wonderful people and meet 2 of the best people I've ever found. So we meet Ty and Gab they asked a lot of great questions we taught about how God called another prophet how we believe in the book of Mormon and how the Bible isn't perfect it's written by prophets but they can make mistakes.   One thing that sucks is just getting out voted. Sorry ive sucked at emails but here we go for today. This last week has been tough to get things going with our people. We have a guy named Matt who we have met with again for the first time in like a month. He is cool not sure what kept him so busy but I guess I did learn more. He is interested in the stock market so ill hit him up about that when I get home. We are trying to help him get a testimony of the Book of Mormon so we are just trying to read with him and inviting him to read. Tram our Vietnamese friend has been learning and practicing English with us. She is going over to a member's tonight for the family home evening and yesterday she was at the Walker family's house with us we had dinner and just talked it was good I'm glad she's getting to know the members more. Transfers seem like they are coming up quick! Not this Saturday but the next one seems so quick they just fly by.  One thing that's good and ba...

  Okay well, let me go over the favorite parts of my week. On new years eve, we went out tracting (nothing new). Well, when we went knocking a guy was getting out of his car and was about to head inside and we were just like hey man we are going around talking about Jesus Christ visiting the Americas got a minute to talk? Guy says no heads inside. We keep going after like 3 minutes we are walking down back toward his house he comes out trying to put his shoes on saying I've got time I'm bored teach me about Jesus in America. He is agnostic and we talk for about 5-10 minutes he said he would read the book of Mormon. Super cool that he came back and we had a really good conversation and he was willing to listen and wants to learn more it was awesome. Almost right after this we taught another guy got his number and taught pretty simply about the book of Mormon. It was awesome.  We have almost completed Blanche's after baptismal commitments so that's been good. I'm stil...

  What a fun week we had. We had our best week of finding the whole transfer so that went awesome! I've been out a year and still dread giving training and leading spiritual discussions and the one I did this week went okay.     Blanche is still working towards baptism and she should be getting baptized Saturday! Whammo, I'm excited for her. She loves the ward and is just a sweet old lady who loves to talk a lot.     Brenna our recent convert has joined us on a few lessons with Blanche and she enjoys them it's awesome she's a great missionary already. Zach and Brenna two ward members go to the same school and they are trying to share the gospel a lot they have out 3 Books of Mormon last week so that's awesome.   Tram a person who's been coming to church but speaks Vietnamese is having lessons over zoom with other Elders in California and they put her on a date after the first lesson so that's super cool.   Okay, so this week's been kinda crazy. We got locked out of our apartment for the morning by leaving our keys inside so we had to wait till people could show up with some keys to get inside for a couple hours kinda annoying but it happens. It was the one time I didn't ask if Elder Viehweg had the keys oh well.  Blanche is on a date for the 19th of November so we are excited for her and happy to help her get there. She seems ready and like she's already a part of the church. Transfer news is next Saturday so we are looking forward to seeing what happens.  Jeff down in Elizabeth City could be baptized this weekend or super soon I'll only be able to watch a zoom when that happens I can't go. Pretty bummed about that but really hope it happens for Jeff.  The farm is so fun every Saturday we go and get dirty running around fixing stuff up and it's a blast I love the whips still. They have a calf that's rejected by the herd and it hangs out pretty fun forget pet...

  Happy Halloween I'd love to see everyone who dresses up send me a picture I'd love that. This last week has been good, we got to serve at the farm again and that was fun we where taking down and installing new fence posts so that was nice. We have still been meeting with Blanche whos still on date to be baptised but it will have to be moved back because she missed church this Sunday thats to bad.     We had what seemed to be really close to a thanksgiving dinner at a members it was super good food nice steak and potatos thought the mashed potatos weren't as good as back homes.     We did about 2 and a half hours of biking on Friday that was fun we tried to visit a lot of people and it was eh. Not a lot of people home or having the time to talk to us so that was a bummer but we know now for sure we are capable of lots and lots of biking.      We had an exchange this week it was so fun.   Hello everyone who's still taking the time to read this far. It's been a pretty good last two weeks kinda didn't write last week my bad. Let me go ahead and catch you up Brenna someone we were teaching is baptized her baptism was on Saturday it was amazing she's very ready and we are super happy for her she's seen lots of little miracles in her life leading up to this. So that's an amazing thing that's gone on over here.  We have another friend on a date for the 12th of November we hope we can keep that date and help her get there her name is Blanche. She's older but knows what we are sharing is true and wants to change so we expect to see her at church!  There seem to be quite a few more people over here in Virginia that have a pretty strong opinion and want to bash about it that's been fun Elder Viehweg my companions have been dealing with that I don't worry about it shrug.  We had a really good lesson Saturday with a friend named Olesya she ...
